  • It is so easy to access the castle it would be a shame not to visit it and the views are absolutely stunning. You can see the boats coming in and out of Parga, the bustling town and the beautiful litt...  more »
  • Many step to go to the caste on topo of the hill of Parga. The castle is nothing, but the view of the village of Parga from ther is very nice. No other reason to be there.  more »
  • If you take the path up to the castle, it is lined with shops, so before you know it you are at the top (if I can do it anyone can!). Turn right at the anchor and then first left and just keep follow ...  more »

  • Beautiful old castle in an equally beatiful little town :). The place has to be visited, the whole town also. The coastline is amazing, one of the best in greece... no, I have to stop, it'll take forever to say what an amazing place Parga is :) BUT: A word of notice, the castle is quite neglected so you should be careful where you go. Watch out for the wasps also, there are plenty of them in the upper more secluded parts of the castle.
  • Great views, neglected to a great extent, watch out for your kids there and avoid the cafeteria, but the potential of this place is huge.
  • This is possible of the the finest castles in Greece. Having said that, the level of neglect and indifference is breath taking and for someone whose family originates from Parga, disappointing. The castle continues to deteriorate - as it has done for the last 40 years - and no one is taking responsibility to repair this amazing treasure. Trees have been allowed to flourish and their root system is slowly but surely going to result in irreparable wall damage. The amount of treasure still buried is extensive and the well documented secret passageway that leads to an underwater exit under the castle remains hidden. See it while you can. A salvation is to have the castle World Heritage Listed so as to place it into someone's responsible hands and stewardship.
  • The Castle is on the top of a hill overlooking the town and was built in the 11th Century. Demolished twice by the Ottomans then Turks, the Venetians rebuilt what we see today. Lovely on a hot day to catch the breeze on the hilltop whilst absorbing the history.
  • Real beauty that needs special attention. I hope that the authorities have a plan to restore the fortress. It is in a bad condition, especially the outside walls and the top part. On the entrance there is a sign "you are entering at your own risk". Anyway it provides fantastic view.
