Acheron River, Parga

Water Body Nature / Park
Travel Acheron River, one of the five rivers that flows through the underworld, according to Greek mythology. Eco tour companies rent canoes and kayaks for trips down the river through gorges and valleys. However, the water is shallow enough, and the current weak enough, that you can wade and swim down the river in some spots. Locals recommend taking a boat to travel all the way out to where the river joins the sea. If you prefer to stay dry, then consider a tour on horseback near the riverbank or a zipline tour through the trees. Put Acheron River on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Parga vacation builder.

  • The Acherwnas is a river all surprises!! The icy waters of July my left great margins not to proceed with the 7 year old daughter to swim already in sources!! Fantastic, until a point in the path but the first source that water was 4 degrees have not succeeded to move, the wife that but the son 11 years!! I found them both heroes! One for the cold, the other that no special shoes to prevent slipping on rocks in the river and walked barefoot (big mistake-don't try it!) Besides and not to have the right shoes, sell there with 8 euros to get even until the last moment. However the beauty of the water, the trees but also the activities with kayaking, horses and rafting not to let pass unnoticed!! On the river there are many taverns and cafes to enjoy coffee or food while at the same time feel ... a bit from "puck" with the games of the Sun beneath the shadows of trees while listening to and enjoying the nature!
