  • This is the most amazing shop I have visited! It has such an incredible personal feel, and the staff really take an interest in you and what you want. My biggest regret is not remembering the names of...  more »
  • Walking through the crowded and noisy streets of Oia you imbattte in this small library, gem lavish and expensive shops on the island of Santorini: the impact just entered was of overwhelming emotions, caused by many books on display in various languages and by the care and attention to detail. Maps, poems, photos and curiosities crowd the small library, and for a few minutes traveling really fantasy.

  • Atlantis Books seems like the type of place which use to be a secret that you would marvel at stumbling across. Now, while reviews like this have let the cat (which is for rent at 5€) out of the bag, it is merely one of the greatest bookstores I have ever been to. Enjoy the quotes, timeline, and recommendations of the engaging and knowledgeable staff. Dream wistfully you had the money to take home a rare first edition. Or just sit on the rooftop reading space and realize it is quite possibly the best view you have ever seen from a bookstore.
  • Seems cool from the outside and then you step inside and you don't want to leave! Wall to wall books. And even individualized recommendations. These people live and breathe books and you'll want to to after going here!
  • Cozy store with feeling reminiscent of Shakespeare and Co (they stamp their books too) with native-English-speaking staff and reasonable prices. Includes popular books as well as many Greek themed ones. Has a rooftop terrace with a great view and they publish their own quick guide to Santorini with great recommendations. Exactly the kind of bookstore and avid e-reader is happy to go to.
  • Great little bookshop tucked away, don't let the steep steps fool you it's quite cavernous inside! Lovely and quirky selection of international books with a slight greek bias :) and friendly staff not much more you can ask for! A must visit!
  • It's a funky spot, and has some treasures like a first edition Hobbit gracing its walls. The selection is eclectic, but not what you'd find in a larger, more complete shop; it's more a place where you browse for what happens to be there than a place you can be fairly sure will have what you want. The staff suggestion/review cards often describe books no longer on the shelves. The markup on books approaches 50% of the suggested jacket price. Granted, it's Santorini, but it seems excessive. Check out the reading area on the roof for a nice view while you read.

Where to stay in Oia

Oia boasts arguably the most unusual lodgings in the Cyclades, offering rooms in cave-like houses carved into Santorini's dramatic cliff faces. Converted into boutique hotels, these dwellings provide airy rooms with good natural ventilation, allowing them to remain cool throughout the island's hot summers. The western side of Oia offers the best sunset views, but you must book months in advance to stay there. The less crowded eastern side offers comfortable lodgings in reasonably priced apartments with private balconies and free Wi-Fi.
