  • Are you on Nisyros so you just need to visit this cool volcano. Yes, it stinks of sulphur and rotten eggs but you get used to it. Especially cool is the steam that siver up from the warm slopes. Please respect spärringarna!

  • This is an amazing sight. Traveling from the island of Kos to the island of Nisyros - one of the most vivid and memorable travel!  more »
  • -The most famous Stefanos crater of the volcano of Nisyros. To the crater followed consisting of trips, accompanied by a local guide. Among the peculiarities of organization of nisirosskoj tours-story guide in German or English (on linguistic principle tourist chooses one of the two buses), but the story can not pay special attention to the Guide verbatim the contents of the brochure, which was later issued on the volcano, along with tickets to visit the crater Stefanos (3 euro per person). Broshjurka, of course, also in English. Crater and walk along it seemed interesting. In this case, unlike many volcanoes, which happened to be the crater Stefanos, first in our tourist practice volcano crater, to which you do not go up and down, which is good. Well, the main thing when walking along the crater, however, is that it is not decided to throw a large amount of sulfur dioxide, as 12 years ago, or venture eruption as in the 14th century. We were lucky ...

  • Not sure if you will remember this place after the visit
  • I've been to many volcanoes and this crater is one of the coolest ones!! You can walk right on it. Can see the steam coming out of the ground! Gorgeous isolated place!! Lots of information at the little "ranger" station/shop/cafe.
  • Very unique place. The rocks and stones are yellow and red from the sulfur of the volcano. Climb down the crater!
  • I loved the place. It is a perfect combination of natural history, unique landscapes and vivid colours. I strongly suggest that you stick the main crater if you are with a tour bus as the time is never enough for both. Note that the second crater is not as safe as the main so use common sense when you visit. Avoid putting hands, face etc over holes where you can clearly hear if not see the gas comming out you might burn your skin or even faint. What ever the purpose of your visit, remember it is an active volcano, and it is a place of geological studies that take place all year round. There are a few red couloured stones placed in the crater and they serve a purpose. It not sensible to kick them, nick them, or play around with them, you will get fined and you will potentially ruin some research project that could be going on.
  • Quite an interesting crater but very crowded. I suggest renting a quad to avoid the large tourist crowds that get send here via bus and also to explore the smaller craters nearby
