  • It's a Monastery, it's not a turist atraction. However is very good place and if you beleive its good to go. I'm going at Ortodox Easter seremony. It's worthy  more »
  • I visited this monastery at least on a 8 occasions over the last 11 years and in my every visit I get the same feeling. The spirituality of the place is second to none.  more »

O Ephraim (14 September 1384-5 May 1426) [1] is one of the "recent saints" for whom no historical writings or other findings to substantiate either of his existence as a historical person whether or not approach those recounts the recent Church tradition with real historical events. Saint Ephraim of NEA MakrisGennisi14 September 1384 May 1426 AttikiKoimisi5 data (Jama'at e) detailed biographical information is told that uncovered in nun Desipri Blissfully in a series of visions that had the 1950. According to them, the secular Saint Ephraim's name was Konstantinos Morphis. Born on 14 September 1384 in Trikala. The son of a large family, which to escape the Devşirme sent him to the monastery of the Annunciation at the age of 14 years. There he stayed until the age of 18 years as a novice monk. Then became a monk and Priest in a few years. By 1416, which was occupied by the Ottomans Athens the monastery has experienced two disasters. At first Saint happened to praying in a cave on the mountain but in second on 14 Sep 1425 returned and tortured with particular ferocity for a half months. Martyred on 5 may 1426 at the age of 42 years. His memory is celebrated by Orthodox Church on January 3 (removal of remains) and may 5 (memory of martyrdom).
