Portara, Naxos Town

(4.7/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
All that's left of a temple to Apollo, Portara forms a dramatic frame of ancient colonnades against the sky and has become an icon of the town. Located on the island of Palatia, the attraction represents the remains of the cultural and trade center of ancient Naxos. The rest of the temple was used to construct a castle in the city center by the Venetians. To visit Portara on your trip to Naxos, use our Naxos vacation route planner.

  • With the approaching ship to enter the port will receive my Voyager is a huge marble gate that is none other than the famous Portara. Is the residue of a temple of Apollo 530p, which remained incomplete in construction. The Portara consists of 4 pieces of marble weighing 20 tonnes is located on the island <Παλάτια>at the Harbour entrance >. Is Ionic. Today the Portara connected to the Mainland with paved path. Suggest to find yourself in the Portara shortly before sunset, if you hear me I wouldn't lose one and you will be given the opportunity to enjoy a romantic and charming sunsets similar to the countless idyllic sunsets you can enjoy in all its wonderful and amazing Greece. In Greece, the birthplace of civilization, purity of Sun, sea and laxity of so many great philosophers who taught all peoples the basic principles in all disciplines without them it would not have foreseen any scientific discovery nor thriving technological progress.</Παλάτια>

  • You will not have a sunset better in Naxos to which you can do from here. Visit bound and main attraction of the island. Not being here is not to come to Naxos.
