Old Town, Naxos Town

4.9
Time stands still in Old Town of Naxos. The cobbled walkways and narrow streets lead to restaurants where home-cooked specialities are served in blue-and-white buildings constructed in the early 20th century. Many of these eateries are adorned with antique furniture and artifacts from the townspeople dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Arches and tunnels break through the buildings, and the beach is not far away. Use our Naxos journey builder website to add Old Town and other attractions to your Naxos vacation plans.

Very special and unique town: going up to the Kastro the streets are very narrow (and leaving the hustle and bustle of the port), there are very special scenarios. Despite being composed of the classical Greek white houses, narrow streets the atmosphere of these is not comparable to other; in the same vacation we saw Santorini and Mykonos, and I was convinced that the Old town of Naxos was not up to par, but it was a pleasant surprise! Different, of course, but absolutely unique.

Surely if I return to stay around the old town, Naxos is really very pretty. Full of life and cafes, is the typical white and blue Greek city. Bella Bella.

Not necessarily easy to find but once lost in the maze of these tiny streets at the center of the chora of Naxos we're having a great time isolated from the heat and the wind (but not tourists...). The ride is actually indispensable, we love getting lost and going in circles despite the world and shopping at touriste(hormis un beau magasine céramiques qu'il vous faudra trouver tout seuls...)

Where to stay in Naxos

As with most island destinations, rooms in Naxos tend to cost more the closer you get to the sea. Beach hotels and seaside apartments come at a steep price, but they offer spacious rooms and modern amenities just minutes from the island's finest beaches. Stay in Naxos Town for quick access to the best shopping and dining options, or choose one of the island's smaller settlements if you prefer a quieter base. Village inns provide simply furnished rooms and no frills, but they also charge less than the resort hotels.
