All that's left of a temple to Apollo, Naos tou Apollona - Portara forms a dramatic frame of ancient colonnades against the sky and has become an icon of the town. Located on the island of Palatia, the attraction represents the remains of the cultural and trade center of ancient Naxos. The rest of the temple was used to construct a castle in the city center by the Venetians.     One of the landmark sites, which I can't call impressive. Right bext to the ferry portand probably the first thing one notices if coming to the island by sea. This glimpse I think is fairly enough.  more »

    You will see this feature from all over Hora, but make sure to go down and visit it at sunset one evening. It can be a bit crowded and the instagram addicts can be a bit intrusive. Still, nothing...  more »
