  • Battle of Lepanto and in the Gulf of Lepanto took place in the year 1571, and it was in front of the present-day Nafpaktos. Picturesque town surrounded by walls and crowned with a ancient fortress built successively by the Greeks, Venecjan and Turks. The battle has allowed United Christian States fleet (which some other fought war) to break the power of the Turkish fleet in the Mediterranean. It was the last in the history of the battle fought by rowing galleys. Soldier on the Venetian gianantonio querini was Miquel de Cervantes. The battle lost his arm and he was taken prisoner by Sultan Algeru. Later became a famous author as Don Kihota with Mancha. In the port of Nafpaktos stands a monument (with both hands) in mid-October a place in port to berth the boat out there but in the summer it is rather impossible.

  • the battle of Lepanto in 1571 in a naval battle with the Venetians to the Ottomans in the Spanish crusades fought against famous writer returning to his native country, where he began writing the book after being injured, and has been a writer in the world. This statue to his memory here is very meaningful.

  • A small statue, beautiful, but degraded to the point that has been set up. To be honest I don't know the link with the town of nafpaktos
