  • The first impression is of surprise, now taking into account that these in Lepanto, maybe not so much... In the same port.

  • The small circular port of nafpaktos (Lepanto or), with both arms-endpoints of the fortress of the city and the towers at the edge, beguiles with sunlight but also with the lights of "night", which emphasize the beauty and history. Proudly standing statues of Cervantes and Anemogiannis, while the perimeter of area viewers the admired, discuss and reminisce, drinking coffee, drink or eat in neatly stores.

  • Battle of Lepanto and in the Gulf of Lepanto took place in the year 1571, and it was in front of the present-day Nafpaktos. Picturesque town surrounded by walls and crowned with a ancient fortress built successively by the Greeks, Venecjan and Turks. The battle has allowed United Christian States fleet (which some other fought war) to break the power of the Turkish fleet in the Mediterranean. It was the last in the history of the battle fought by rowing galleys. Soldier on the Venetian gianantonio querini was Miquel de Cervantes. The battle lost his arm and he was taken prisoner by Sultan Algeru. Later became a famous author as Don Kihota with Mancha. In the port of Nafpaktos stands a monument (with both hands) in mid-October a place in port to berth the boat out there but in the summer it is rather impossible.
