  • Put your sports, relax before starting, and calculate at least 3 hours to walk and get enthralled by the beauty, the views, the Castle and the Byzantine churches. Many words are poverty, and the Castle, unique in its kind of waiting for you to explore!

  • Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and carry some water with you. It is easier to get in from the upper entrance and work your way down to the main entrance. The view from the castle is beautiful. V...  more »
  • Walk through the narrow stone paths in the last Byzantine empire's stronghold. Amazing wall painted icons in the monasteries ruins worth a visit and a tour. Don't miss it.  more »

  • So much history, looks and feels like a magical place in autumn
  • Certo nice site. Wonderful start be constructions and Byzantine churches still there to remember us of the previous civilizations. The visit is tough. Site has 2 entrances: an upper one and a lower one. You can find many suggestions but in the end I suggest to start from the upper entrance. While still in full energy, go to the top castle. Then visit the site by going down. I suggest avoiding whatever is after the "palace" (patanassa or something similar). On the map is that big archway doing a large Demi-ellipse on the left of the palace. There a couple of nice niches, but not worth the detour. Rather concentrate on the right part of the map, when I the southern side of the site, which after going through the gate.
  • Bloody wonderful experience! A true must see if you are ever nearby. The old architecture would take you breath away!
  • A remarkable Byzantine fortified town built up the side of a mountain with a fort at the summit. Nearly all the buildings have been destroyed but a number of the churches have been preserved along with their original frescoes. Lovely and peaceful location with fantastic views over the spartan plains, great place to just wander around the winding footpaths.
  • Fascinating and impressive, that such a small place have had such an influence in its time.
