  • Definitely a cool spot to check out. Make sure you wear closed toe shoes at the fish market has fish water everywhere. Your feet will get wet and nasty. Otherwise you have a great selection of fresh everything. It's pretty crowded and this is not for the faint of heart. You will see things you might not be used to, but most restaurants I the area source meat from here.
  • First off, I will admit that I'm not from Athens, and I did not shop here to find food for cooking, so take my review with a grain of salt. We visited the market and walked through it a few separate times. It was open even through late Saturday afternoon. It's always great seeing what's available at markets. There were mostly fish and meat stands, but you can easily find the vegetable, herbs, nuts, and snacks stands. Those are the ones we loved the most because they obviously had better smells. This market, even if you're not intending to buy anything because you're visiting, is worth at least a half hour walk around in order to see all that it offers.
  • Well worth a look around. Not like the Spanish markets, as it is mostly fish and meat on sale. The fruit and veg can be found a little further from the butchers and isn't as big, more like a regular market. Huge selection of fish and seafood. Surrounding area has a lot of interesting shops selling all sorts of food from herbs to cheese to beans.
  • Nice and large market. Outside you can find spices to take home and fruits to eat on while sightseeing. Inside was mostly meat and fish vendors.
  • My favorite place in Athens. The vibe is fantastic. A foodie's paradise!
