Milatos Cave, Milatos

Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web
Explore Milatos Cave, best known as the center of an 1823 battle between the brave local rebels of Milatos and the invading Turkish army, which ended tragically. You'll need a flashlight to explore the pitch-black caves, and many recommended taking transport to the site as the walk from the village is quite long. Within the cave, look for a small church built in 1935: it sits near a large circular opening revealing some spectacular views of the surrounding area, so bring along a camera! • Free entry but sensible shoes, a camera and a torch a serious must. An amazing cave certainly a must see, sadly we only saw a small fraction of this as a torch is needed to venture further in.
  • At the "end of the world" with interesting historical relation to Create freedom movement against Hasan Pasha troops in 1823.
  • Brilliant views, the whole trip worth it.

  • The cave deserves more attention. There is a wide path in ballast from the road at the entrance of the cave. In proximity of the road there is a reception structure, almost abandoned at the end of the work. The cave is completely unattended, and unenlightened. So you can see just a few antrinilluminati falla natural light. We recommend that you bring a flashlight.
