  • A nice small museum with colections from neolithic to roman times from the area. Intresting statues of the egyptian gods. Nice garden for a walk with the tomb. The protohellinistic tombs were closed. Worth a visit.
  • Was at Marathon on 9/11/14 to thank the Greeks for what they did there. The museum is near the Platean's mound. Was a lovely experience with a charming older gentleman who showed us around including the new building which allows you to walk over an excavation site on elevated walkways. The experience was quite moving for me when you know the history of the battle that saved western civilization, and proved a constantly squabbling bunch of Greeks in a new form of government could come together at a time of crisis when attacked by a dictatorship which always seems to strike the first blow. Thank you Greece.
  • Hidden gem
  • A small museum, which contains priceless cultural and cultural treasures of Greece. The most important exhibit is the portion of the trophy of the battle of Marathon. Features section of Egyptian exhibits. Don't miss the Mesoelladiko cemetery just 10 metres adjacent, with separate of tumuli. Unfortunately the functional tumulus of plataea to the surroundings of the Museum does not work all day and you need to call in advance to find out the hours a visit.
