  • A rich private collection of WWII relics and all kinds of objects, relating not only to the island's rich military history but to important historical events that shaped Europe at these turbulent times. Mr. Paraponiaris, the collector, is there to kindly offer a lot of important information to the visitors.
  • For anyone interested in WW2, the Dodecanese campaign and more specifically the Battle of Leros, this is a must-visit! If you haven't already seen the old movie The Guns of Navarone, I can recommend it as a warm-up before visiting, since the inspiration behind it is the aforementioned Battle of Leros. To get here, look for the road signs on Epar. Od. Gournan or Epar. Od. Xirokampou-Parthenou - when you get closer there are white arrows painted on the ground on the smaller roads that will guide you. The privately-owned museum and collection is housed in a rather big building filled to the brim with various objects and memorabilia. Me, my wife and daughter got a private 1-hour tour through all the stuff by the extremely friendly Mr Paraponiari Jr, supported by Mr Paraponiari Sr. in the background. Both are extremely knowledgeable and more than willing to share stories and anecdotes about the era, the people, and the items, in broken but perfectly understandable English. I translated for my daughter (9), who turned out to be a lot more interested than I had imagined. The place has a very special atmosphere with its mix of weapons, uniforms, pieces from military vehicles, personal items, photographs and newspaper cut-outs from all the fighting sides. We spent one hour here, but could have easily stayed for longer. Highly recommended!
  • Very big military collection all from the island of Leros. Very friendly collector, he knows a lot about his objects and is friends with some of the veterans, so he can tell their stories as well. When you go to Leros this museum is definitally worth a visit.
  • Impressive collection of items from WW2. Very well presented
  • Must see for military fans. Very welcoming atmosphere, great effort, objects and kits. My deep compliments and admiration for creators and guide.
