Inspirock Rating:
3.6/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web
Find Preveli Beach, hidden away just below a historic monastery where the lagoon and beach are known locally as "Palm Beach." A grove of palm trees crowds the opening of the Kourtaliótiko gorge that opens onto the sand. Boats from Plakias will bring you from your resort to the site, where you can swim in the Libyan Sea and hike the grove in this relatively isolated location. Although the beach is secluded, there is a small cafe nearby. Consider including a visit to the monastery and a hike through the gorge while you're here. Our Lefkogia holiday planner makes visiting Preveli Beach and other Lefkogia attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • We sat on the left side of river, and had to 300 stone steps (different thickness and size) walk down, I myself have done, because you had to also back 175, man down, so unfortunately we couldn't come together at the river. beautiful views from above.

  • The Palm Beach of Preveli is a palm-fringed sandy beach with large pebbles in water. It is located approximately 40 km south of Rethymnon near the Moni Preveli monastery in a small Bay of the Libyan Sea. It forms the southern end of the two-kilometre Gorge of Preveli, which cut the Megalopotamos River to its mouth in the rock. A small lake was formed at the end of the river. The Palm Beach is shielded on both sides through the extending almost to the water the rock massive limiting the Gorge from the neighbouring coast foothills. The beach can be reached from the West side. About 200 meters above the Palm Beach there is a steep, but extended and safe way which leads from the car park to the beach. There is a small rest area, which offers a view over the entire Bay and the lower part of the Gorge, preveli halfway to the beach. The last part of the route leads through a small rock solid. The beach is relatively small and very crowded in summer. There is a small tavern and a rental of beds is also possible (but the supply is very limited). In addition, boat rental for trips in the Lake. The River at a Ford secured must be Wade through to get to the beach (about 30-40 cm deep and 4 meters wide). In addition to the bathing pleasure worth exploring the Canyon along the river. A large Palm Garden is fringed by Palm trees, almost. Little river beds invite you to swim in the cold fresh water. Seeping effect is not possible, since the path is given. About the 2010 forest fire, which damaged some Palm trees almost nothing can be seen. Almost all Palm trees are white black residue on the fire again dressed in their original splendour, only on the trunks. Conclusion: even though the beach is - strongly frequented to recommend! Take simply enjoy and explore, however for the drain and rise time.

  • Beautiful (relatively small) beach that has taken its name from the monastery (Monastery). It has a municipal space for parking (2 Euro) and is accessed through several stairs (good to have athletic shoes with him, slipping a bit in descent). Descending the stairs has good spots for photos. The beach is like optimization on small, after the mid-day/afternoon when they leave the boats that bring the world mainly from Plakias empties. Necessary to visit on foot within the Palm forest of Preveli, the relative Lake Preveli (substantive is the widening of the Kourtaliotiko River).
