  • Visiting this archaeological site brought to life the mythology of Zeus. One can't help but envision the Greek God growing up within it. And once you learn the history behind the ancient people who came here from all over the Mediterranean to worship inside the cave, it makes this experience even more amazing. One bit of advice: for the love of Zeus wear comfortable clothes and shoes good for climbing. You can make it easier on yourself by paying for a donkey ride, but it takes away from the experience. The fee differs depending whether you pay for the one way ride, or the round trip.
  • Visited on a combined tour with Knossos, two of Crete's most popular attractions couldn't be more different. Zeus' birthplace is more natural but with the artificial coloured lights felt more touristy, but still well worth visiting. The fresh orange juice while waiting for the coach to depart was an added bonus.
  • Nice place with amazing wiew on the Lasithi plateau. Must see.
  • The whole trip towards this cave is an experience itself (a car is needed). This place has some great views. The cave itself is a nice experience, but you will have experience it by yourself. It is worth the price (less then 10 euros).
  • Went here on part of a guided trip. Very steep walk up to the mouth of the cave. Not for those with breathing or heart problems, especially saying you're at a high altitude anyway with less oxygen. Take care when using steps inside the cave as condensation renders them slippy. Much more interesting if you know the mythology surrounding the cave.
