Marathonisi (Turtle Island), Laganas

Categories: Islands, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web
An island uninhabited except for the sea turtles, Marathonisi (Turtle Island) is part of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, which strives to protect sea turtles and their habitats. You'll discover two beaches on the island--one sandy and one rocky. Book a boat tour to visit the island, or rent a motorboat to reach the island on your own. Even if the turtles aren't there when you visit, look for their tracks in the sand. If you stop at the sea caves on the other side of the island, you can snorkel and search for more sea turtles. Bring your own snacks if you wish; the island has no facilities. Put Marathonisi (Turtle Island) into our Laganas trip itinerary maker and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We spent € 20 per head (4) and got a nice sightseeing by private boat. We were fortunate to find a captain noteworthy, we did see turtles, go into caves and finally swim at Marathonissi! Sea, a paradise even though very busy. It's a must go for who goes from town!
