Dr Nicholas ExadaktylosThe "Arches" as called by its inhabitants the medieval Kavala (construction near 1530 a.d.) the city's aqueduct, located on the edge of the old town. The small peninsula of Virgin Mary, which until the construction of the aqueduct was arid and almost uninhabited, then became a small paradise. Presumably the cistern was built on the remains of the Roman aqueduct of Neapolis, which in the late 14th century, ceased to exist. It is the most beautiful of the few surviving today in Greece.show original
