  • Small excavation of a temple. A part was destroyed during the construction of a hotel. The route is very poorly marked.

  • I was looking forward to visiting the temple...but it was closed for the duration of our stay. It probably isn't terrible....if you can get to see it....but we were most disappointed
  • Sad place, a janitor who is very acidic on the think people were awkward when people wanted on watch (stone piles) the janitor did not want the gate would be open but LOCKED. Very poorly with information about the place. Picture taken from the hotel room because did not want to fuss with the janitor.

  • A great experience and a good place to take photos.
  • Good
  • In the late 5th century, placed, according to archaeological data, the first instance of Ammon in the area of the sanctuary. The god Amun, Egyptians and Libyans of principles the 2nd km. e.g., identified later by Zeus. And this was because an Oracle coming from the Egyptian Thebes, where he was the main Sanctuary of God, looked like an Oracle of Zeus at Dodona. Since then his presence in the area of the Mainland is frequent. The altar of Jupiter's temple built in the late 5th century. e.g. in the holy sanctuary of Dionysus and the nymphs. The temple built in the second half of the 4th century. e.g., comes to crystallize the worship of God in space, to show us the economic prosperity of the city, which seems to not be affected by the siege of Olynthus in 348 BC, or even to link-in other-rebuild it with the name of Philip or what of Alexander. From the 5th century. e.g. the Zeus Ammon involved in Web history of aphitos, is becoming God-protector of the city, plays a key role in avoiding risks, which threaten, depicted on coins of the era. The sanctuary imposing is the presence of the Temple of Jupiter's temple, who probably had and divinatory properties. The temple, Doric style with 6 columns to close and 12 in the away side, built in the 4th century. from home kogchyliati Boulder, while architectural members were coated by white marmarokoniama. It is noteworthy that in the 3rd century. e.g. marble entablature replaces the original stone, as the latter is destroyed in the years of the Gallic RAID, in the first decades of the 3rd century. for example, at the same time, and the original Corinthian temple roof tiles received repairs at the Church times, but partial replacement of terse keramoys the Roman era. Interesting is also the fragments of sculptures, numerous sherds, and several inscriptions finds at the site around the temple, which enlighten the story of Jupiter's temple. Southwest of the Temple of Jupiter's temple revealed theatrical construction, referred to as "Auditorium" and has seats on the eastern side and scale in the West. The reputation and the radiation of the sanctuary-and thus the prosperity of the city of afitos-should be continued unabated in church and Roman times, which probably was associated with the cutting workshop of currency in the city.

  • was there between 20 and 31 May 2016 three times at different times to visit it. Always closed. No one knew when it is open. Some residents and gas sites still didn't even know employees on the beach, where the site is that there is much less when you can visit it.
