  • It is an uninhabited islet near the lagoon of Balos. On it you can visit the ruins of a 16th-century Venetian fortress. In the ruins one can see statues dating from the Venetian rule. From above you can see a beautiful landscape with the unspoiled beach at Balos. From there it enchants the clarity of marine waters.

  • We went here with an excursion on the ship. I was ecstatic! I advise everyone to visit here. The port of Kissamos we arrived by car, got themselves on the korabr' (27 Euro 1) and sailed to Balos and Gramvousa Island afterwards. Climbed to the top! There is no other way, the beauty and the history of it is above. Necessarily need comfortable shoes, specially picked for this sneaker. There is not much time. 2.5 hours on Balose, 2.5 hours on Gramvuse. On the boat if you wish to eat, for a fee. In the port there is a café. Bring water, a lot. hide from the Sun there is no where, so be careful.

  • A short break on the way to the Balos sailing boat is an option to:-while swim in the sea-go to the Hill and admire the view-eat something on the ship As I'm lazy and i like to swim, I chose option 1 and I was happy. Note to the top is quite steep and you have to bring something to drink

  • After the hike uphill at midday when it is especially hot and sunny, it's not that impressive as a ruin. Also not easy to walk on a rocky path in flip flops, so bring hiking sandals at a minimum. But view is great. Rated 3 stars due to the boat tour which is packed with a ton of ppl, making gramvousa very crowded when everyone unloads. Beach is small but quaint, rocky entrance to the water so bring water sandals. Unfortunately if you do a boat tour you will arrive at the hottest point in the day. we try to visit Cretan ruins in the morning due to the heat and sun after 11:00am. This is in August.
  • Great views from the top. It's good to have stable shoes so you won't hurt yourself while going up which btw is a great exercise.
  • Perfect experience that includes a lot of stairs! The view and the feeling is more than rewarding.
  • The BEST of Creta ! Historically, mystical, beautiful island !
  • Very nice place! Beautiful views. History from XVI century.
