  • The island of Gramvousa is the Balos lagoon upstream. The old Fort is on the cliff top. You can go up to the Fort mountain in some 20 to 30 minutes on a reasonably passable path. From the top is my a great Vista. Upstream of the island lies a ship wreck in the water which there rusting away. Worth a visit here.

  • Our family with 3 year old child took a tour Balos Bay with a visit to the island of Gramvousa. We departed from Agia Marina on a bus that took us to the port from which we set sail for the island of Gramvousa on the big eponymous ship "Gramvousa". Boarding and disembarking are accompanied by large queues because the ship is very large. The trip should just wear sport shoes as yet to climb rocks and scree. After arriving on the island all given exactly one hour. You can run down to the Fort or swim, sunbathe on the beach. I'm skeptical of giving precedence to the ascent to the Fort with our little son, but after seeing how fast zashagali up people quite old age decided to storm the Fort. The idea that we splavali on the island and visit the Lair of pirates someone is unbearable. There was simply no options-we have to go there! Climbing passed calmly-as it seemed to me, the main thing is not to hurry (despite the time limit) in order not to shoot down your breath and be careful not to get hurt. Comfortable footwear that protects the toes and does not go down just needed. Looking at the rastjanuvshujusja mountain chain tourists think that landed military expedition to capture Fort. Upstairs walk the crowds, so it is difficult to make a good photograph without any aunts or uncles in the frame. Views from the top are magnificent. The idea that ship drift away without you driving all fast down-time make meaningful photos and just view the entire panorama of no. Ascent and descent with our young hero ended safely, without injury and nerves. After our return to the ship, literally 10 minutes he sailed. Would not call this trip a mandatory part of the program stay in Crete, but it was interesting.

  • During a boat trip, we had objectives the stop in front of the fortress and the visit of Balos Bay. It is possible to walk up to the fortress or stay on the boat. We used to walk in the mountains, but I must stress that access to the fortress is quite dangerous, a little less on the way up than on the way down. Take very good shoes and be careful on the way down. The stony path is sometimes slippery and markets are of unequal size. The day of our tour, one person broke the ankle and had to be hospitalized in Chania. A somewhat sad memory of Crete vacation. We wish a good recovery to the rugged Lady, even if we do not know. We hope that she could be returned now. In places particularly dangerous, maybe put a rope as in mountains with us.
