Botanical Park & Gardens Of Crete, Fournes
(4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Explore the natural world on the isle of Crete at Botanical Park & Gardens Of Crete, where ornamental plants and fruit trees flourish alongside local flora. The dry air and bright sun provide a climate for many varieties of growth, and trails break through the greenery and weave under citrus trees and flowering plants. Events in the open-air amphitheater include concerts, tastings, folk music, and dancing. A small fee grants you access to the oasis of fruit-bearing trees and multi-colored flowers, but you can visit the on-site restaurant without a ticket to the gardens. Botanical Park & Gardens Of Crete is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Fournes Edition.

  • An amazing place to visit. Went there while we had time to kill and there was so much to see! Set in the mountainside with winding paths you get to see all sorts of plants and fruit baring trees. For only 6 euro each, it's well worth a stop and everyone there is super friendly. Amazing views and definitely worth a stop!
  • Anyone with faintest interest in plants will be delighted to see the first zone (tropical) of this 4 zone site along terraced hillsides. The species here, in the main, are rarely found in North American botanical gardens due to climate conditions. It's a rare treat to see and particularly when in bloom. The second, or Mediterranean zone, is almost all found in North American botanical gardens. Though the perfect specimen of Colorado Blue Spruce was a bit of a shock. The fruit section seems like a series of commercial groves with oranges, lemons, & pomegranates galore with a singular tree or bush here and there thrown in. Ditto for the last section of "vines". Don't miss the "lake"/zoo for its here you find the Cretan goat and the ? which looks like a deer in size with elk antlers, cream fur with large spots. Geese, peacocks, donkeys, ducks, & turkeys or buzzards it seems, too. First class government restaurant, restrooms and info/ticket sales desk. Beautiful view of the surrounding mountainous terrain from the capacious indoor & outdoor seating. Everything is very well done & only 30 minutes from Chania. Bottle of cold water and orange slices offered with €6 admission. Credit cards accepted. Note that this is hilly terrain. Places to rest along the way and walking sticks are yours to borrow.
  • Magnificent place; absolutely gorgeous mountain views, beautiful flowers & fauna in the park. Really worth visiting as well as the tavern uphill.
  • Great Botanical garden! 6 euro is price of entrance. The ticket includes a bottle of water. You will spend around 2 hours for a visit.
  • Great place to meander around ... especially with kids on a hot afternoon... nice and shady and beautiful vistas.... topped of with a lovely cook glass of somthing
