Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos, Fira
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Located underground in a natural cave, Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos teaches visitors about Greek wine and wine-making. At 8 m (26 ft) below the ground, the museum spans 300 m (984 ft) of the cave. Follow the labyrinth to learn about the history of wine and the daily life of winemakers in Santorini over the last several centuries. Listen along on an audio guide for details of each step of the wine-making process, from pruning and ploughing the vineyards to harvesting, stomping, and weighing the grapes. Finish your visit with a taste of four of the wines produced by the vineyard, and take home a bottle of your favorite wine as a souvenir. Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Fira Edition.

You can get an audio guide, the one of many interesting facts gives, while it goes through the cellar Vault. Then you can test 4 wines of all alone at a nice bar. You can get a wine after another, always from a fresh glass of wine at the right temperature. Awarded.show original

A very beautiful island views and yours can make 5 kinds of wine tasting also there are parking lot on the roof. But there is not much to be seen in the museum.
I know a lot of people who visited Santorini but very few who went to the winery. It is pretty obvious that everyone comes for the beach but there is more than that in that beautiful island. The wine museum is very interactive and shows how they grow local grapes in their unique way on the volcano soil. There is also a shop/bar where you can buy wines or taste them. Greek wines and especially from Santorini are not world famous but they do have something special in them. I definitely recommend this place.
