  • A greeat shining under the light of the Sun, the reflection of the sea and the blue of the sky and take in religious ceremonies in honor of Demeter and Persephone. The mysteries were held each year and attracted people from all over Greece, and later by the Roman Empire. The secrecy oath of initiates does not allow us to have pure philosophical background for the Eleusinian Mysteries. We believe that the initiation aimed at reconciliation with the death and the posthumous life expectation. The ancient writers avoid to give more details, as anyone who participated in the mysteries and reveal something of the timwreito ceremony in death. • Eleusis is a wonderful place to visit. It was a place of great importance for Athenians and their city and for me it was a pure pleasure to see it. The Museum is small but nice and worth to be seen.
  • Nice place to visit ; a 1h discovery of the city center from antic Greece to the end of Roman empire period. Nicely located on my road from Patra to Athens.
  • I visited a few sites and this one is my favorite. It's a larger area with a lot of stone left. Check it out!
