  • Starting from dimitsana. There is a road that arrives at the New monastery of Philosopher and from there a path leads to the monastery of St. John the Baptist, and another road, which leads you straight to the Metropolitan Baptist. We chose the second way, we left the car in a plateau and we started the descent in a trail shaded and cool. At some point, there is a junction, a branch of the leads in the new monastery of Philosopher and another leads to the Ancient Gortys. Epelexame strand for the i. m. Timios Prodromos. The entire ride lasted about 15 minutes with relaxed walking. The Monastery looks hooked from the rocks and the surroundings are idyllic and perfect for those who want to leave the mundane and to look for a contact with the divine. The only means of transport, you can get there, is the donkey, sample the selection of monks to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Entering the monastery from a low entrance, one feels an awe. The monks are missing from the world and the only sign of their presence is the coffee, water and delights to treat guests. Going up the stairs, you reach a small parlor and from there a smaller stair leads to a darkened Chapel, where with a little effort you'll see the age-old and quite worn out. Another staircase leads to a balcony, where you will enjoy the view. Green to the point that reaches your eye, and by far the sound of the waters of the Loysioy River! Left are the cells of the monks, locked away for the rest of the world. Worth with a thousand visiting, regardless of your relationship with the divine.

  • Do go, do walk, do visit the monastery as well as the forest. The place is remarkable, built inside the rock, seems to almost levitate. The feeling when you are there is simply fantastic!  more »
