Ruin
Delphi contain the remains of sanctuaries dedicated to the cults of Apollo and Athena, as well as several other structures presumably built for sports. Providing a glimpse into the ancient world's religious beliefs, these ruins joined the list of World Heritage sites in 1987. Tradition says Zeus determined this location as the center of Gaia, the great mother of all in Greek mythology. Apollo's sanctuary, built here in the 4th century BCE, served as the cultural and religious center of ancient Greece for many centuries. The sanctuary famously housed Apollo's oracle, a priestess capable of making prophesies by channeling the god's spirit. • Delphi is definitely a place that a visitor shouldn't miss! The scenery is stunning, and so are the findings in the museum and the site itself, especially in spring! Make sure you see everything three...  more »
  • The ruins are preserved very well and represent the symbol of the city, it is definitely worth taking a little break even Centre to admire them from afar.

  • Greek for lovers. Upon a good bicycle tour we hit that place. We cannot always bike. So we made something good in terms of culture. All over are food places. We enjoyed the good Local food and drinks. Nice environment. Recommended for real Greek lovers. Worse to go!
  • The archaeological site is beautiful and good preserved. There are explanatory stands every few meters. The view is also magnificent
  • Amazing view to the valley and there are the ancient ruins as well. Both worth to visit, but trust me, the view of the valley is breathtaking. Hint: Take a quick look at the building next to the entrance of the ancient gymnasium, it's lovely with it's flower covered roof ;)
  • Cute little town ( it has 2 main streets). It is nice to see Apollo's temple. But don't spend more than a full day. In the morning we went to the temple and in the afternoon we climbed the mountain (stairway of evil) gave us a great panoramic view as well as a view of the stadium which was closed, you can also get to a cave but we chose not to ( it's a 7hour walk). We took the bus to get there from Athens fairly easy but does not pass very frequently (especially for the return). We ended up taking a bus and train heading to Meteora.
  • This is a "not to be missed" site. Easy to access from the local town or on an organised tour. The site and the museum can be accessed on the same ticket.
