Mount Pantokrator, Corfu

4.5
#2 of 9 in Nature in Corfu
Capture magnificent views of the surrounding islands from the top of Mount Pantokrator, the highest point on the island. Visit the monastery located at the summit, walk around the courtyard, and stop for refreshments at the nearby cafe. Be on the lookout for owls hopping around on the rocks at the summit. Walk or drive up the winding road leading to the peak, but avoid the journey if you have a fear of heights, as the drive up is steep with mountain drops down the side. Parking is available at the summit for your convenience. Be sure to remember your sunscreen, as the sun can be strong at this elevation. • By way of introduction I would like to warn: don't particularly trust the maps and navigation accessories when going to the Pantokrator! We had 3 cards and on all roads and villages marked differently. The Navigator generally sought to divert the primer. In addition, that it is the highest point in Corfu (check), and hence at the same time you can see Albania and Italy (must see!), no special beauty is not found. Landscape strongly affect the various towers on top. In winter, the monastery is closed to the Castle. That is, today is not a monastery in the usual sense, but rather some kind of tourist attraction. And be careful on the roads

  • The highest point of Corfu (906 m). By car. Just a mazochistáknak. Narrow concrete road that leads to the top, only rarely, trees as well. There is a gift shop, restaurant, Church, monastery, in the other direction antenna-jungle. Parking is limited, even on a bus about. Basejumpers, try Canyoneering favored by area.

  • Beautiful view of the sea and Albania. It is worth spending time here. It is best to arrive early in the morning to get to the top.
  • Highest point in Corfu and the views are stunning. Interesting drive up to it as well. Cannot quite believe why they put a bright red super tall mast right in middle of the monastery grounds. Shame as it's a bit of a blot. Otherwise it's a totally great place to go for a full view of the island. Hold onto your hats going up.
  • Traveled from Saint George in the southern part of Corfu! Always seen this mountain from Corfu town and thought that looks good! So hired a quad bike and hit the road! Definitely worth the 1 hour accent to the top and so amazing views.
  • Fantastic view and great trip to get there. On the summit you can have a coffee and enjoy Corfu from all directions
  • The view is stunning!
