At Patounis Soap Factory, you'll learn that not all soaps are created equal. In continuous operation since the 19th century, the factory uses traditional production methods to create a line of pure olive soaps. A living reminder that family-run, traditional businesses can survive in the modern world and thrive thanks to exports, the factory still features tools and equipment from the 1890s. In the summer, you can take a free guided tour of the premises to see the production process and learn about this important local industry. Check the website for more info and opening hours. Patounis sapuni su veoma blizu centru grada. Najbolje vreme za posetu je radnim danom u podne, jer tada gazda-domaćin pravi prezentaciju gostima, priča čitavu priču o porodičnom biznisu - nastanku, 5....  more »

Wonderful living museum to traditional soap making...........Don't miss this fantastic little museum if you are in Corfu town. Mr patounis gave us a really interesting insight into his family business making soap the same way across 5 generations since 1850. We tagged onto a talk that had begun 5 mins previously and were immediately welcomed. A slice of industrial heritage and it is brilliant that it's history and equipment is preserved whilst continuing to produce the product. I never appreciated what goes into making high quality handmade soap ....that it needs weeks in the cauldron and then months to cure

Unique product worldwide, unique place to visit, you really get inside the time capsule when you get in there... going back to the 1800s when the soap factory started production.

Small factory with plenty of regular soap in wooden boxes. Nothing impresive.
