Casa Parlante, Corfu Town

4.7
Specialty Museum · Hidden Gem · Museum
Casa Parlante allows you to immerse yourself in the everyday life of the island's 19th-century upper class. This small, interactive museum occupies a classical mansion on the edge of the old town. You'll see inside the cramped servants' quarters and learn about all the messy work they had to do to keep their masters comfortable in the era before sewage and electricity. Perfect replicas of period furnishing and animated life-size figures of house residents bring history to life. A visit to Casa Parlante represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Corfu Town attractions app to plot your vacation.

  • A very interesting house to look round. We got a proper guided tour by a really helpful and knowledgeable guy who explained about the house and the people who lived there, why they lived there and how they used the house. The figures of the occupants added to the feel but the mechatronic aspect was nothing to get too excited about. Overall we really enjoyed it.
  • I would totally suggest to visit it. As the guide in the museum told me, its italian name means "The Museum that speaks". In the beginning i thought that it was just an eye-catching name. But no. It wasn't just to gain impressions. It truly narrates to its visitor the habits and life of Corfu's once aristocracy in the most fascinating way. Truly informative and must-visit. Secret info: get prepared for the tasty liqueur!
  • Beautiful, absolutely full of fantastic and fascinating religious artifacts including a silver tomb. Beautiful large oil paintings adorn the walls. It is a very quiet and dark place to walk round but that only adds to the atmosphere. We were only allowed around one room but with the amount artifacts that was enough. Sadly no photography allowed. But then no charge to get in.
  • This museum really worths the visit. The welcome with a rose liquor while you wait for your guide, the ambiance of the house, the furniture, full of details from the XIX century make you feel part of a different time. And of course the charming and so entertaing explanations of the guide, made it a very pleasant visit and accurate picture the way aristocracy lived in Corfu at that time. Wonderfull visit!
  • A fun and informative look inside an old aristocratic family's household. All the furnishings are age-correct, the puppets are very funny and the guides well-informed and friendly. Definitely worth a visit. The tour takes roughly 30 minutes and afterwards you can look around and take as many pictures as you want.
