  • You can enter and visit the Dark Prison, stroll along this irregular pentagon up to the Turkish Baths. Many sites to stop along the way..

  • This is an amazing castle - and a very unsung treasure of Chios. It is worth a morning wandering round the outside of the walls and then the village inside the walls and taking a coffee in the main...

  • As is often the way in Turkiye the castle has been substantially rebuilt. This does not stop it from being impressive and dominating Cesme, particularly if you are approaching from the sea. I enjoyed exploring it but the best views are from outside of it, especially from the bay near the ferry port.
  • The castle has some impressive parts and an interesting historical background. The fact that it has been allowed to build houses inside it, even using parts of the old walls removes a big part of its beauty. Still it is worth a visit, although you will need some scouting skills in order to spot the unharmed areas.
  • I loved the castle, there are beautiful houses everywhere, nice restaurants and medieval atmosphere!
  • You can have a cute stroll there but nothing special.
  • Not so many English translations at the castle's info. Almost all of them are in Greek, wich is rude. Anyway, this is a Turkish castle, because they had the island from the year 1500 to the year 1912.
