  • This is a slightly quirky museum as it rolls maritime history and a bit of ecology into one. The story of Crete's struggle for independence is well told and thankfully in English. The struggle for Ind...  more »
  • For €3 entrance, a very good overview of the maritime life here gets around and on Crete. Exhibits from various periods (uniforms, weapons and utensils, and tools) to shellfish of all kinds and other dried sea creatures. A special exhibition to the occupation of 1941-44, one finds many great detail built naval vessels on the upper floor. Here is also the model construction workshop where the exhibits are partially manufactured. With luck you can watch men in their fine work.
