Ancient Aptera, Chania Town

(4.3/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Tour the remains of massive Roman water cisterns and wander through structures spanning over 2,000 years of history at Ancient Aptera. Walk through an ancient theater, the remnants of several Doric temples, and a Roman peristyle villa, then make your way to the summit of the site for a sweeping view of the area. The uneven ground and climb to the summit may be challenging for people with mobility issues. There are no places to eat or drink, so bring plenty of snacks and water. Be sure to check the attraction's website for opening and closing times, which change seasonally. • I spent my most peaceful moment in Crete in the theatre listening to flies. What else can be added to it.  more »
  • but in sunny weather it must be even better. OK, we're not the biggest friends of "old stones" now but here you can discover comfort and frequented Faistos or even Knossos, this place is not so strong. A spacious complex with great excavations, which allow a space to digress a little in the history of Crete. Normally you go unnoticed on the new road. Chania and Rethymno on this gem pass.
