Ancient Aptera, Chania Town

(480+ reviews on the web)
Ruin
Tour the remains of massive Roman water cisterns and wander through structures spanning over 2,000 years of history at Ancient Aptera. Walk through an ancient theater, the remnants of several Doric temples, and a Roman peristyle villa, then make your way to the summit of the site for a sweeping view of the area. The uneven ground and climb to the summit may be challenging for people with mobility issues. There are no places to eat or drink, so bring plenty of snacks and water. Be sure to check the attraction's website for opening and closing times, which change seasonally.
