Myrtos Beach, Cephalonia

4.4
Nestled in the foothills of two mountains, the arc-shaped Myrtos Beach gained attention for its narrow strip of warm pebbly sand, lapped by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. Located in the northwestern section of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, the area surrounding the beach offers a full selection of tourist facilities. You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds nearby, as well as arrange for a leisurely boat cruise around the island. Several taverns within walking distance of the water serve local cuisine and cold drinks. Stay late to watch the sunset, which is best appreciated from the verdant cliffs just above the beach. • Let me explain, the beach that provides showers free Wi-Fi and two lounges with parasol €7 per day is worth it. The water is bright blue, but for deep and eroded by the waves you get into the water with boulders here we say not to Belen. We arrived at 9.30 and advancing a few umbrellas, parking good until 11 then wild, came away at 17 there were parked cars 4 bends over more than 1 km, then it's not worth it.

  • One of my favorite beaches to be missed. Beach of small white pebbles (Council rock shoes), which makes the color of turquoise water as a natural pool, beautiful. The beach is not organized, no sun beds or deckchairs, but a shower. Fantastic snorkeling and get lost in the sea of paradise for hours on end.

  • Okay the view from the top is spectacular but get to the beach by car is not pleasant because of the road ... If you are in the area ok but otherwise you can avoid despite the reputation it has. rough seas with waves very strong ... only one bar for many people. There are better beaches in the South of the island.

  • nature's beauty at its best! absolutely surreal colours and what an amazing experience.
  • One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. And yes, it looks exactly as on the pictures!
  • Beautiful. A hairy drive down. We visited in a windy day and the sea was very rough. If you have small children, not worth the effort of going in my view. If you don't, well worth the trek.
  • Amazing beach. One of my two favorites in the island. The road is a little bit difficult but worth it. You should visit for sure. There aren't any sunbeds or bars nearby .
  • GO TO PETANI!!!! Totally disappointing. Myrtos is beautiful when you can see it from above. Drive down and it's totally not worth it. Yes the water is beautiful but the beach is pretty average - at best. We got out the car after an hours drive only to be totally disappointed and got straight back in the car and drove back the other way, to Petani. The beach at Petani is much nicer and they both look the same from above. Plus, Petani has two gorgeous restaurant / bars direct on the beach, whereas Myrtos has nothing.
