Myrtos Beach, Cephalonia

(4.2/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
Nestled in the foothills of two mountains, the arc-shaped Myrtos Beach gained attention for its narrow strip of warm pebbly sand, lapped by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. Located in the northwestern section of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, the area surrounding the beach offers a full selection of tourist facilities. You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds nearby, as well as arrange for a leisurely boat cruise around the island. Several taverns within walking distance of the water serve local cuisine and cold drinks. Stay late to watch the sunset, which is best appreciated from the verdant cliffs just above the beach. Make Myrtos Beach a part of your Assos vacation plans using our Assos trip itinerary maker.

  • Great beach. We arrived early and spent the whole day there however there are no food or drink facilities so bring your picnic. Pebble beach so beach shoes recommended. Highly Recommended  more »
  • We have driven around the island on the bike and from Agia Effimia to Myrtos Beach. Through a winding, steep road we arrive at the beach. The contrast of the color of the water against the blue sky and the white stones on the beach is mighty fine. Big waves, what many tourists bruising. The way back on the bike is not easy, because the same winding, steep road, we must of course also back up and we decide but to run with the bike on. But this beach is totally worth it. Water shoes are a must, because the beaches of Kefalonia consist mainly of pebbles.
