  • If you want a great adventure in Crete and can ride this is it! The Cretan Odyssey was a fantastic horse trek from the north of the island to the south coast and back again on a circular route. We cov...  more »
  • Attracted by the excellent reviews, we chose Odysseia stable for our usual horse ride of family vacation (we try to make almost every holiday). But we were quite disappointed: horses are very good and you can feel them well maintained although the walk of two hours is not ideal: a very big part is done on roads that could be by car, many very stony parts where horses slide and a landscape which is not unpleasant (olive non-stop) is a bit boring. The guide has not opened the mouth of the ride. I ended up cracking an hour asking at least we trot a little, what we did fortunately and it caught up with the end which was a little less boring than the beginning where we were wondering really what we were doing here...

  • The stables themselves are absolutely charming and perfectly clean. The tack is in perfect condition and well adapted to each horse. In fact I'd like to get the same Wintec saddle! The horses themselv...  more »

  • if youre looking for a place where you can feel at home, eat good food and be out on horseback riding in some beautyfull nature or just relaxing at the pool, this is the place to be.
  • Everything, the setting, the devotion, the view the horses and the rides
  • Have had very good experience with a 6tägigen (160 km) trail-ride on your own. The horses are hardworking, reliable and rideable. However, one should be really hard for a trail ride unaccompanied and have plenty of experience with horses. As a free-running horse met one before a herd of sheep or goats or a pair of dogs to jump suddenly from the right or left on the horses. On paved roads, the horses ever into the slides and you should then quickly descend and lead the horses. Who has no fear before such adventures, can sustain itself for 6 to 8 hours per day in the saddle and is able to follow the blue arrows will be rewarded with a great trail ride and fantastic landscapes. For beginners a guided trail ride or horseback riding lessons in the dressage arena is advisable rather. The horses are kept well and also the equipment corresponds to what one is used to in Germany. This is not common in Greece. The Manangerin (Sabine Ruijters) is Dutch, very friendly, helpful, competent and speaks good easy to understand English (Dutch and Greek I can not rate it). Even beginners are well catered for with her and learn more relaxed riding in beautiful surroundings. I think especially for children. The corresponding accommodations, restaurant (4 star, is headed by Sabine's husband, a Greek) and the pool is better than most of what you will find on Crete. I happy getting on the delicious food in the cosy small restaurant. Posted I have the journey of horse & rider. Am very satisfied and can only recommend the location. This has been my most beautiful equestrian vacation, really nice people and horses in delightfully of relaxing environment.
