  • It is a building of the mid 19th century. In addition to the main facade are statues of Athena and Apollo, as well as Plato and Socrates. The monument is neoclassical architecture. Access to this monument so very easy, since it is on one of the main avenues of Athens, the Panepismistiou, more or less midway between Omonoia and Syntagma squares.

  • The world wisdom is not enough if not Faith,Spirit,Patience and Brotherhood does not exist..In our Academy the Candle ol Light that carries all these centuries of our people wisdom is the place that it's Voice must be leading and heard nowdays ..
  • What a beauty, and a wonderful example of Neo Classical design. Go inside and look into the main meeting room. Outside columns has statues of Athena and Apollo. At the bottom of the steps are Plato on the Left and Socrates on the right. Plato built his first school on a plot of land called The Academy, which is why all higher learning schools are called The Academy all over the world.
  • Its a new building but looks so fantastic.
  • A masterpiece by architect Theophil Hansen.
  • Cool architecture after the fashion of the Parthenon, but all in one piece (of course).

Where to stay in Athens

If you come to Athens for its ancient history, stay in Plaka, a lively neighborhood located within walking distance of the city's major archaeological sites. Although relatively expensive, hotels in this part of town offer spacious rooms, private swimming pools, and rooftop cocktail bars. For less expensive but equally comfortable lodgings, consider boutique hotels and family-run inns in the quiet residential neighborhoods just a short drive south of Plaka. Good rooms fill up early in the season, so plan ahead and book in advance.
