Assos, Assos

4.6
Built on the side of hills sloping down to a beach along the Aegean Sea, Assos features traditional stucco houses and narrow streets that are populated by only 100 permanent inhabitants. Some of the locals operate small taverns, offering hearty meals with views over the sea. The walk up to the Venetian castle ruins rewards you with the best view in the village and is accompanied by the scent of olive trees. • Just a beautiful small bay with local children swimming in it, has coloured houses all around in the hills and lovely restaurants, tavernas and shops around the quay or take a walk up the 1.8km hill t...  more »
  • Quite famous is so full of people but it is a small village with roads for cars. beaches small and ugly ... the sea was choppy and so maybe I was unlucky. . But I do not recommend to have a long way to go

  • Yes the water is clear but it's simply a pebbly beach/bay that's a bit of a mission to reach and is full of tourists. Finding parking can be a bit of a nightmare too. It is cute though and could be pi...  more »

  • Assos is a small village close to Myrtos beach. It has a castle that people can walk uphill and enjoy good views of the sea. It has some small fish taverns with fresh sea food, at the port of the village. it is recommended for 1 or 2 nights stay.
  • Love the town! I took so many good photos here. Every house here had some interesting details. The whole town looks like it's from some fairytale. The colors are amazing in sunset here. Also there is a beach that is pretty clear if you take into account that you are deep into bay. Also the restaurants here have fresh seafood as this is a fisherman town and the fish is caught and brought here every day
  • Lovely little harbour. Watched a fisherman sail in, show a bucket of 3 fish to a cafe owner then sold them there and then sell them to him. It doesn't get fresher than that. Life certainly goes on here and there's a real sense of usual life around tourism #assos castle is a huge climb but gives a sense of history in this otherwise sleepy village. Wouldn't stay here but worth a visit
  • This must be one of the 'must visit' places in Kefalonia. There is a nice little walk along the harbour and a nice little cut through to the headland point. Swim, snack, chill...... Lush!
  • Beautiful place. The views and the village are truly ethereal. Restaurants are good for food. The earlier you get there the better the parking. We had visited before on organised trips but much better if you can spend the day there.
