  • September 2015 in one of our guides we had read an article about this place. As we were close we wanted to figure it out unfortunately we could not visit it because it was closed. Through the fence we were able to still get an idea of the site. Later we learned that his discovery is relatively recent, because the first excavations were conducted in 1969; this necropolis would bring together more than 200 graves dug into the limestone rock and a collective grave; Many skeletons have been found, they were accompanied by offerings ' pottery, jewelry, weapons, statuettes, tools).

  • Many years ago, I visited the Minoan graves, at that time there were 5 just once I was even more astonished when I visited the plant this year, a whole cemetery beautiful tombs was excavated. The resemblance to the Egyptian burial sites is frapierend. In any case worth small detour on the route of Spili-Rethymnon. €2 entry are quite acceptable. Small Tip: first go to the toilet, there's nothing like ;) Then, a visit to the Museum in Rethymno or Chania, where lost property from the graves to visit are worth.

  • Probably one of the biggest Minoan cemetery found to date, this making it a pretty unique archaeological site of its kind. Although the site is unfortunately little rich info on site, you will be still seized by the greatness of these graves dug in the rock and also by their number (more than 230)! The entrance, € 2, is very affordable! Once on the site you walk anywhere, you can venture inside the tombs... the place is calm, far from sites crowded with tourists and shady because in the middle of old Oaks, with parking at the entrance to park. If you're in the area, feel free to make a pit stop! The visit takes I would say between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the interest that you wear there ;) The necropolis is located about 15 minutes drive from the center of Rethymno.
