Caves of Diros, Areopoli
Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Explore the series of natural underground waterways at Caves of Diros, the source for many Palaeolithic and Neolithic artifacts now housed in a museum. Take a boat tour to access the tunnels of caves, dramatically lit from within. Traverse below the thousands of stalactites that hang from the domed caved roof as you wend your way through. Though a guide drives the boat, little commentary is offered, leaving room for silence and inspiration. Arrive early to avoid waiting in line, and note the attraction may not be for those who suffer from claustrophobia. Caves of Diros is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Areopoli Edition.

Well worth a visit. Out of the main season we only had to wait 10 minutes. The boat ride is amazing and very well done.
Wonderful trip to the underworld where you see what nature really is capable of. Well worth the drive to get there, Highly recommended.
Εξαιρετικό σπήλαιο, ωραία η βαρκάδα αλλα και το κομμάτι που διασχίζεις πεζός. Simply the best caves in Greece. Noone should visit mani and not pay a visit here. The bost tour is second to none!
Very interesting. Pitty that only first two seats in the boat have the best view. Others are looking sideways and over shoulders of the people in front of them.
Amazing! Excellent place to visit and experience if you are down in the area of Sparta or Kalamata. The water is mirrored and they have lit the cave in very interesting ways.
It worth the visit. Amazing journey to an exceptional place.
Impressive cave. Don't miss the prehistoric museum nearby.
