Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach), Anafonitria

(4/5 based on 4,200+ reviews on the web)
The jewel of the Ionian Sea, Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach) sits as an exposed cove famed for its crystal clear water and the skeleton of an abandoned merchant shipthat's been rusting away on the white sand since 1982. The beach stretches along the northwestern shore of Zakynthos, an area defined by its sheer limestone cliffs. The turquoise water lapping against the sandy beach attracts thousands of swimmers, snorkelers, and divers, many of which arrive by cruise ships from nearby ports. For panoramic vistas of this beach, bring along some drinking water and head to the nearby village of Anafonitria, famous for its viewing platform that hangs on the edge of a steep cliff. • This beach is nothing short of amazing and worth seeing. In one word: unique. With its deep blue sea which contrasts with the beach and white rocks candide. It gets easily with one of the many ferries with organised tours. The wreck is located right on the beach and everyone can get on it (be careful because is rusty). The only flaw, which bears very annoyed, is the constant coming and going of people occupying each centimeter. This doesn't allow you to enjoy the scenery and the Greek air that accompanies you.

  • Unique beach and very particular in that wreck the only flaw and overcrowding of tourists but then the only way to reach the beach and sea. Still recommended as place.

  • The place is amazing, blue is wonderful. There are no words that take care of the beauty of the place. Prefer the agencies that make the ride in boats smaller and earlier. Visit the empty Beach will be a big difference. Book at least 3 days on the island of Zakintos, not to be at risk of not being able to go to the beach, because the access is only by boat, there may be no sea conditions to get there. PS-don't forget to go to the lookout too! The tours are complementary.
