Akrotiri LightHouse
One of the oldest lighthouses in Greece, Akrotiri LightHouse still stands as a sentinel on Santorini. A French trading company built the square structure in 1892 and operated it with oil, but the beacon switched to electricity in 1988. Wear closed-toed shoes to safely climb the rocky hill, and when you're finished, consider a meal at one of the surrounding fish taverns. Bring your camera to take advantage of the many photo ops here, which are especially gorgeous at sunset. as we were told the lighthouse is a place to be when the sun goe down. quite a lot of people came to watch the sunset but the place around the lighthouse is big enough so we all have place to sit and.... more »

We drove to watch the obligatory Santorini sunset at the Akrotiri lighthouse. We parked up along with pretty much every other tourist in the area (there's a parking area about 300m before the... more »

The lighthouse itself and surrounding ground is fine. But as per other reviews the views from the lighthouse are breath taking and beautiful. We went on our buggy and thought why not, we were very... more »

Worth checking out. Fun to hike around the hills, be sure to have good shoes as it is rocky. The lighthouse itself is fenced off but the views are wonderful. Parking is the only downside, the road right at the end of the road does have a small turn around area, but can get quite packed with cars and quads.

On a clear dark night we had the most amazing view. Cruise ships, lit up like Christmas trees, sailing by as the Ray's of the lighthouse pointed out the presence of the nearby cliffs. While simultaneously the stars sparkled in the vast black abyss that we know as our Galaxy. Definitely worth a visit during the day and even more so at night on a clear day.

Great spot to catch some views. It is a bit rocky so wear decent shoes. It was also very windy so watch your skirts ladies! Parking is limited

Enjoyed coming here for sunset. Come 30 minutes early because you might have to park a ways away and hike to the viewing area. People bring picnics, but we headed straight to a nearby restaurant for dinner after and the timing was good for that. There might have been about 200 people there when we went.

Wonderful sunset views from the hill around Akrotiri lighthouse. Highly recommend. Just plan ahead with some good walking shoes and a picnic to enjoy the views.
