Akrotiri LightHouse, Akrotiri

4.2
One of the oldest lighthouses in Greece, Akrotiri LightHouse still stands as a sentinel on Santorini. A French trading company built the square structure in 1892 and operated it with oil, but the beacon switched to electricity in 1988. Wear closed-toed shoes to safely climb the rocky hill, and when you're finished, consider a meal at one of the surrounding fish taverns. Bring your camera to take advantage of the many photo ops here, which are especially gorgeous at sunset. • Nice place very atypical for the wonderful sunsets of the island with a frame breathtaking.

  • When you get the most out of South Road the Red Beach 20 min ride on the beautiful island of the sea at the southern end point of the Lantern. The most spectacular event of the Island Lighthouse, which can best be traced of the sunset 2. dot. (The first point of the Oia) from here for the ceremony to watch the sun set together with other people from.

  • This little light house at the tip of the island stands out white against the red and yellow rocks. A few minutes drive from the red beach it offers a short trail to the cliff overlooking the south west end of Santorini with almost a full view of the sea around the island. Typical Greek build, small but lovely to see. There is a small parking near the light house to start a short walk to the edge where you can sit and relax and enjoy the views.
  • Very windy and not much to see. Very basic lighthouse and a sea view which is similiar to every other sea view. Not worth seeing. Its free but you can't go inside
  • The best place to be in Santorini. Go there not for the lighthouse, but for the peace that place offers. Don't get busy taking pictures. Sit there at the edge for a while, and soak it in.
  • You can't go in the lighthouse itself (which is still in use), but there are trails around it that give you a beautiful view across the caldera and out to sea. We were there a bit too early for the sunset, but it looked like a great spot to see it. Off season it's fairly quiet, but there aren't many parking spots so get there early if you're driving.
  • Also known as faro. It's a 25 to 30 minute drive from first city center. Very windy since it's at a cliff. Tourists are not allowed to go inside the light house however the sea looks nice from outside..can visit if time permits.
