Lighthouse Landmark
One of the oldest lighthouses in Greece, Akrotiri LightHouse still stands as a sentinel on Santorini. A French trading company built the square structure in 1892 and operated it with oil, but the beacon switched to electricity in 1988. Wear closed-toed shoes to safely climb the rocky hill, and when you're finished, consider a meal at one of the surrounding fish taverns. Bring your camera to take advantage of the many photo ops here, which are especially gorgeous at sunset. Using our custom trip planner, Akrotiri attractions like Akrotiri LightHouse can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • The lighthouse is well worth a visit – especially if you have transport. We found it very easy to get to on the ATV that we’d hired. It’s not far from Red Beach and Akrotiri so you can combine seeing ...  more »
  • We came here our first evening to watch the sunset. It is an excellent location and has room for quite a few people.  more »
  • Nice views, however there is currently no access to the lighthouse itself. Use as trip destination, but don't plan to spend too much time.  more »

  • By far the best place to see the Sunset in Santorini, Far better than the crowded, touristic "Sunset in Oia". Will take some rock climbing and walking though to enjoy it.
  • Lighthouse was locked off, no idea if it is unlocked earlier in the day, but the sunset is pretty incredible if a little busy.
  • Must visit place when in Santorini. Please spend half an hour and enjoy splendid view of sea from this place
  • Beautiful sight but caution needed when walking around the lighthouse area. A small hill can be climbed behind the lighthouse to have a highpoint view of lighthouse and surrounding waters.
  • Great view! Hard to find parking near though.
