The Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is a mosque located at Europa Point in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, a peninsula connected to southern Spain. The mosque faces south towards the Strait of Gibraltar and Morocco several miles away.ConstructionThe building was a gift from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and took two years to build at a cost of around £5 million. It was officially inaugurated on 8 August 1997. When the building was opened there was over sixty limousines and impressive security measures.It is the southernmost mosque in continental Europe, and is one of the largest mosques in a non-Muslim country.ComplexThe mosque complex also contains a school, library, and lecture hall. It is the only purpose-built mosque in Gibraltar to serve the Muslims in the territory who number over 1,000: around 4% of Gibraltar's total population.

  • . Even though we visited during official opening times we unfortunately were unabl to gain access into this venue. 
  • Not open for visitors, so could only view from outside. Beautiful gardens. Not an architectural student, so can't comment on style, but looks very beautiful, and quite new. Loved seeing the light-hous...  more »
  • Came here on the number 2 bus- penultimate stop before Europa point. Offered Friday prayers and the mosque was 10% full. Stunning design inside and out.
