August Horch Museum Zwickau, Zwickau
(4.9/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Opened in 2004, August Horch Museum Zwickau covers the history of automobile manufacturing in Zwickau, home of the Horch and Audi car brands prior to World War II. The museum is housed within a former factory where August Horch, an engineer and automobile pioneer, first established his Audi enterprise in 1910. Numerous vintage cars are parked within exhibits made to look like gas stations or entire streetscapes from the 1930s. The permanent exhibit space is chronologically designed, starting with the early years of Zwickau's car industry and concluding nearly one century later, with the production of Volkswagens in the 1990s. The automotive odyssey is presented through 70 large and small exhibits, highlighted by computer animations, historic documents, and video presentations. • We were the first time in the August Horch Museum in Zwickau. I have to say I am excited by the Museum difficult. Great and informative exhibition. Super nicely done. Very enjoyable visit. If the Trabi exhibition is finished, we will come again. Despite a 200 km route

  • Those who are interested in technology and automobiles, takes an in-depth look at the history of the automobile and the development of technology here. But also the historical perspective is commendable: the exhibition brings together many props from the decades since 1900, when the automobile production began at this point. The Museum staff - including many former Audi staff is friendly and helpful. And who has a little bit of luck, may be even a glance in the neighbouring private residence of August Horch throw. It's almost faithfully preserved with the furniture of the time.

  • It is a must for any visitor of Zwickau to visit the Horch Museum. Very interesting car museum but very few information in English.

  • Great exhibition but the café especially the food was just awful... Half frozen meat and such...
  • The Time to safe old Values
  • For car fans and interested parties of the Saxon automotive history a MUST. Unfortunately only the development is shown so far due to lack of space until 1945, but in the coming year to - doubling and then presented to the present the history of the automotive industry site of Zwickau. We look forward!
