Neroberg, Wiesbaden

(4.6/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Neroberg, a 245 m (800 ft) high mountain offers fantastic, popular hiking trails from Wiesbaden to the summit. During your hike, stop at the Russian Church, visible from afar with its five gilded domes. At the peak, visit the small mountain park designed by Philip Hoffmann, and enjoy the distant views from one of the monopteros (temples). Nearby, a 19th-century tower--which survived a fire that destroyed its adjacent hotel--now houses a restaurant with a garden terrace. In summer, Nerobergbahn, a mountain train that has been carrying passengers since 1888, makes the trip to the top easier. A visit to Neroberg represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Wiesbaden vacation trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • A visit to the Neroberg in even cold times, before the trees obstruct some views with the foliage, is really worth! The views of the whole city bus over to Mainz is gorgeous! The access should be improved but really times, caution potholes!

  • The ride to the Neroberg with the old funicular railway (Nerobergbahn) is quite an experience! The tank of the upper line is filled with water and pulls up the bottom line by its weight. You can drive up but also with your own car or hiking. The Neroberg is an ideal starting point for hikes in the Wiesbaden Woods, a paradise for Vertigo sufferers or those simple bathing pleasure in the Opel-bad. In good weather from here worth from a view over the city of Wiesbaden.
