Wernigerode Castle, Wernigerode

Castle
One of the most popular castle destinations in Saxony-Anhalt, Wernigerode Castle was built into a slope in 1213. In the 18th century, Count Christian Ernest had the castle renovated in the Baroque style that you see today. More renovations in the 19th century added the romantic touch that makes the castle seem as if it arose from the pages of a fairytale. The interior courtyard comes to life during the Christmas season with activities and events happening every hour. These include storytelling, minstrels, reenactments, and a Christmas market. The castle museum is open throughout the year and often hosts conferences, weddings, and events because of its beautiful interior architecture. • After a slight climb up the hill, getting to the castle was just out of this world with breathtaking scenery. Inside was amazing and the guy on the desk so so helpful  more »
  • The path to the castle is steep, man walks through the Park. Castle itself is in need of renovation but still nice. For the money, nice time travel is offered. After 15 minute walk the old town can be reached. Between the Cafés and ice-cream parlours, everyone will find what for yourself. We were thrilled!

  • Unfortunately, we were on a very overcast day there, the view from up there was so great, beautiful weather it must be fantastic. We made a tour of the Castle, are different not to visit the rooms during the winter months, more beautiful, it would have been safe on your own because you can then determine their own pace and looks of course also more because is not always in the large mass is on the way, (here it should be noted, that the organizer should be concerned about smaller groups for the leadership , partly, the rooms are so small that you feel like a sardine in a can must feel and that is not a positive experience, of course). There were now some info that you otherwise would have had. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages, our Palace guide has himself anyway, given all the trouble and made good their cause. The Castle café was quite okay and we would have expected much higher prices for the location. A trip to the castle is recommended in our eyes anyway
