  • The Royal crypt with the sarcophagi of the ducal family, is located in the South of the old city in the historic cemetery. There are two simple Eichensärge for Goethe and Schiller. Goethe was buried but the Schiller coffin is empty. You can learn why this is so, for a guided city tour or audio guide. On my travel site toeightycountries.com more about Thuringia.

  • Not only the members of the Princely House of Sachsen-Weimar(-Eisenach) lie buried here, but for example also Goethe. The coffin of Schiller is empty. To Schiller's body, there is also an extensive history, which you can read elsewhere. Only the area in the Maria Pawlowna is located, is different: because she had remained orthodox namely even after her marriage to Weimar, it is located in an in built-up Orthodox Chapel.

  • With the Russian Orthodox Chapel of the Grand-Ducal family tombs. There are also the coffins of Goethe and Schiller, where the coffin of Schiller's is empty, because I is at the supposed remains of Schiller to none of the Schiller of family in the Royal crypt. In the Chapel, Maria Pavlovna of Russia found their final resting place.

  • They have bunny squirrels! #1 must see! Weimar is the best
  • Interesting place with Goethe's and Schiller's coffina and others from the ruling family of Weimar.
  • The sarcophagi of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Friedrich Schiller are among others in the Royal crypt. You were convicted because of their work for worthy, to find their final resting place in the princely mausoleum. The building is a typical building with a dome, which decorates a cross. Inside are stone pillars, which give the rooms the a noble radiance.

  • To see there is the tomb of Goethe and Schiller. There is also a monument griggio forgotten by the German authorities made by an artist of the Bauhaus. You have to try because it is not written anywhere. I knew why my guide said.
