Mueritzeum Aquarium, Waren

(3.4/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Recreating every type of natural setting, including the sea, Mueritzeum Aquarium is a nature-lover's sanctuary. Each exhibit is labeled with a poetic name, such as "House of the 1,000 Lakes," where fish race alongside each other in the clear water. You can view their antics through the aquarium walls. You'll also find songbirds and woodland animals living in lush displays. The museum doubles as a research facility, and education about its inhabitants is one of its missions. • Probably, you should not visit the Müritzeum, if you have previously been in the Ozeaneum (even if the topic of course is another). The museum itself is quite small, this unfortunately quickly crowded and very stuffy. Sure, for school classes in the primary school age, it offers a good destination for a day of hiking. The Museum was already rather boring for our 13 year old however. Much was known already to the part of the school or other museums. (Theme forest, development of brown coal, etc.) There are some with Mach exhibits, however again would have to be repaired in part, because here too much was made with. Overall everything seems a little dirty, cobwebs hang in part over the not so clean aquariums. It seem to be that each nibble is also too many fish in small tanks. Overall everything as even to and from then on no longer maintained works. After about 1.5 hours, probably has seen everything, would even out from the stuffy air. We had not promised us anyway, more but a museum with more care, care and love to the region by visiting the Müritzeum, in the sense of something spectacular.

  • The Müritzeum gives a very good insight into the water world of the Müritz and the surrounding area. Very good theme rooms.
