  • Waldsassen is a very small town located within a few short km from the Czech border. Its claim to fame is this cathedral which in itself is very beautiful and worth visiting. The bones of martyrs and ...  more »
  • My grandma was in the convent girls school, since then, much water the Wondreb has gone down. I'm certainly no Saint, and already no one who goes to church every Sunday. I think it is more like my grandfather: "Dear a pious look to the sky in the forest, as so many wrong prayer." Live in Berlin, but this patch of Earth, with the world famous library, where occupied relics between ancient book covers are presented with gems, where a beautiful environmental garden to the cast invites, has a very different attraction in stock for me. Here they have managed to marry old, venerable monastery construction with modern architecture. Worth a visit! And then the monastery restaurant! A blend of simplicity and craftsmanship - a monastery due. If there is a God, then the kitchen brought with them his blessing on a plain, white plate the guest. The food a prayer, the portion of a dream. Here also an atheist comes to rest, despite the murder and mayhem around the world, rubbing on each. Thank you.

  • The Cistercian Abbey is a well-known gem in the Upper Palatinate. The visit to the church construction site was a little disappointing, through necessary renovations was to see only a fraction of the magnificent Interior. Only the choir area is freely accessible. From March 2017, the artwork will again shine in a new light. The world-famous abbey library was guided to enter, there was however a very strictly and uncompromisingly defended photograph ban. Then still slide strips can be purchased in the monastery shop. Here, the charge on the amount of time should come and realize that the dissemination of photos increases the attractiveness and is regarded as a marketing tool. Many old tomes are to see, clean lined up, impressive carvings in the form of sculptures and the lush balustrade on the gallery. The Dragon gold, a monastery liqueur, quite delicious specialty is recommended.
