St Mary's Column, Trier

(50+ reviews on the web)
Monument Tourist Spot
An easily recognizable landmark overlooking Trier, St Mary's Column offers panoramic views of the city and its river. Constructed in the 19th century using donations made by ordinary Trier citizens, the statue of Saint Mary stands on a 40 m (130 ft) pillar and gazes protectively over the surrounding area. Though not particularly steep, the uphill walk does require a good pair of comfortable shoes. Don't forget to charge your camera, and pack a light snack and some drinking water.
