Hauptmarkt, Trier
(4.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Soak up the atmosphere at Hauptmarkt, a colorful, bustling square that's been an important part of Trier since medieval times. Visit the market cross, a Hauptmarkt landmark, which was commissioned by Archbishop Henry I in 958 CE. (Due to its age, the original cross is protected in the municipal museum; this is a replica.) The market fountain from 1595 shows St. Peter, the patron saint of the city, surrounded by the four cardinal virtues of a good city government: justice, strength, temperance, and wisdom. Ponder the meaning of the monsters and monkeys that also surround the saint. Pop into the shops and restaurants that line the square. • Beautiful section of town. Lots of interesting little shops outside. lots of unique items and food. Great place to shop and enjoy Europe!
  • Central square of Trier very characteristic and somewhat confusing. Can't say they're beautiful or tidy, but is very much alive. Surrounded by historic palaces, at the center of the square is the fountain of the 4 virtu, particularly ugly. To visit, because if you don't pass by here you haven't seen Trier. From here it goes to the Black gate (Porta Nigra) passing the entire shopping district.

  • To use the XXL parking, you must use unfortunately XXS supervisory / runs with high kerbs. Am stuck despite supposedly cautious downhill unfortunately spread over three floors. Can my opinion therefore not suitable for bigger cars or drivers that not good enough to estimate the size of the car.

  • Close parking. Rather go to the car and check for dents. Beneficial for nervous drivers and or big cars: many XXL parking spaces on the top floors
