  • The routes should be covered with split. During our stay at little rainy Wtter was very dangerous. Else has been done here nothing against risk of falling than at other places we visited in Germany. What there is to see, is uninspired made up. So it would be at least said to illuminate the basement. €4 entrance.

  • My boys have studied Roman History and taken Latin in High School. This was a great place to visit. The acoustics are fantastic, you can stand in the middle of the amphitheater and be heard through ou...  more »
  • The highlight is the "basement" or the vault. Otherwise you can guess that what it once looked like, but it are now only a few hills with a large square in the middle.

  • Amazing place! Beautiful piece of history! Plenty of places to eat just around the corner aswell!
  • On the banks of the Moselle river lies Trier Germany's oldest city. Trier city is in the north of Alps. It was founded as a Roman colony in 17 BC, by emperor Augustus. Trier became the favored residence of several Roman emperors and was even called Roma Secunda, the second Rome. Now Trier is UNESCO world heritage site. The main attractions include the Ports Nigra, Barbara baths, Imperial baths, Amphitheater, The Basilica of Constantine, The Roman bridge etc. The amphitheater: The oldest Roman construction in Trier dating from AD 100, it's used to hold bloody games (remember Gladiator!) and people can watch. It can hold at least 20K people. Think this as an older version of 3D Digital IMAX :) but bit messy!
  • Pretty awesome to see! Nothing special really but it's worth checking out!
  • Take your time and explore here! Literally one of the wonders of the world. A must see!
  • One of Trier's main attractions. Interesting to note that this used to be the Roman's regional capital. It's also really cool to see how strictly defined Roman society was and how that is reflected in the architecture of the amphitheater. Another interesting fact about this place is that you are able to go underneath and see how the show was run, where the dead were taken, how the animals were catapulted onto the stage, and where they were kept underground.
