Dortmund
Though its major passion may be soccer, Dortmund offers visitors more than just historical sports venues. Known as the region's Green Metropolis, the city attracts tourists from around the globe with a vast network of waterways, woodlands, and spacious public parks. The historical center of Dortmund is a popular shopping district, one of the many things to do aside from sightseeing alone. A long strip of trendy stores sells everything from clothing and shoes to books and jewelry. Typical beer gardens, pubs, and restaurants surround the shops. The vibrant beer culture shouldn't come as a surprise; this city built its prosperity on beer, coal, and steel. Though most of the mines and steel mills stopped working long ago, the beer industry is stronger than ever and earns the town a spot on many visitors' itineraries. It produces huge quantities of top-quality beer that's served in distant corners of the world as well as in Dortmund's traditional beer halls. Dortmund is in North Rhine-Westphalia. Our Germany online itinerary maker allows you to plan your trip to Dortmund and a wealth of other destinations big and small.
